What front matter pages does Gutter create?
Gutter builds the half-title page (just the title), the title page with the title, author and a fleuron, the copyright page, the dedication and the table of contents with the actual page numbers from the typeset version.
If your Word file already includes any of them, Gutter keeps yours.
!KEEP IN MINDThis is the book's interior. Gutter doesn't design the cover (front and back).
02
How do I add or remove the table of contents in my book?
The table of contents is created with a checkbox when you upload your Word file. It's checked by default, but you can uncheck it. The table of contents lists your chapters and parts with the actual page numbers.
Once your book is typeset, you can change how it looks: font, size, italics, color or alignment of the title and the entries.
HOW TO ASK FOR IT
Make the table of contents a bit smaller
Put the table of contents in Lora
03
How do I change the copyright page and the dedication?
Gutter sets the copyright page in your book's typeface, using the details you provide or that it reads from your Word file (author, year, ISBN…). You can change its size, font, alignment and color, and the same goes for the dedication.
The copyright page is always included in the book.
HOW TO ASK FOR IT
Make the dedication italic and centered
Make the copyright page a little smaller
