Your manuscript is deleted automatically no later than 30 days after download, and it is never used to train any AI model. We acquire no rights over your work: it is and remains yours exclusively.
No. Gutter's AI only lays out: it interprets your design instructions (margins, line spacing, heading style…) and translates them into formatting settings. It never rewrites, corrects or changes a single word of your book. Your text reaches the final PDF intact, exactly as you wrote it.
First, you can lay out your entire book for free, with a watermark, and see it before paying anything. If, even so, you are not happy with the result after paying, you have 7 days to request a full refund. And if the problem is that Amazon KDP rejects the file over the layout, we reprocess it at no cost until it is validated.
No. If you can write in Word, you can use Gutter. You upload your .docx file as it is —with its images and tables— and the system handles the margins, the spine, page numbering and the rest. There are no templates to fill in and no technical settings to configure.
Before handing you the file, Gutter validates the interior against Amazon KDP's rules: trim size, margins, gutter (spine margin) based on the number of pages, image DPI and page numbering. If something doesn't fit, it tells you. And if KDP still rejects the file over the layout we generated, we reprocess it for free.
Your manuscript and the generated files are removed from our servers no later than 30 days after download. You can download them as many times as you need within that window; after that, they are deleted automatically.
